But don't panic. After countless analysed top posts and our own tests, we know:
There are clear patterns for successful LinkedIn posts. Here we show you what makes the difference.
The perfect LinkedIn post: What really counts
„Soll ich ein Bild posten oder ein Video? Text-Post oder Carousel?“ We hear this question all the time.
The truth is: The format is secondary. A run-of-the-mill video performs worse than an emotional text post.
What really counts: You have to tell a story that gives your target group pause.
The formats at a glance:
- Pictures still work, especially screenshots of achievements
- Videos perform strongly, but only if they captivate in the first 3 seconds
- Text posts can go viral if they strike an emotional chord
Mein Tipp: Experimentieren!
Understand your target group (without marketing blah-blah)
Go to the profiles of your existing ideal customers and see which posts they interact with.
Our insider tip: Join LinkedIn groups that are relevant to your topic. Read the discussions and make a note of recurring questions. That's your content gold.
That's how I do it personally: Every Monday, I spend 10 minutes scrolling through relevant groups and gathering inspiration. This results in my best posts.
Understanding the needs of your target group is key, but you don't have to think complicated to do so.
Do you know what your target group wants, but your LinkedIn posts are still not performing?
Let's develop a content strategy together that really works:
Increase reach: How to hack the LinkedIn algorithm
Basically, it can be said that the LinkedIn algorithm favours LinkedIn posts that make users linger in the feed.
What the algorithm loves:
- Posts that get a lot of interaction in the first 10 minutes
- Posts that trigger real discussions (not just collect likes)
- Content on LinkedIn that keeps users on the platform for longer
Tip Post between 8-10am. This is when activity is at its highest and you have the best chance of achieving good organic reach throughout the day.
Another hack: Beantworte JEDEN Kommentar in den ersten 30 Minuten. Das signalisiert dem Algorithmus: „Hier passiert was Wichtiges!“
How many hashtags are needed?
Sometimes you still see posts that are full of 30 hashtags. This is usually counterproductive and also looks unattractive.
Our rule of thumb: A maximum of 3-5 relevant hashtags is enough. Better a few, but the right ones.
How to find the best ones:
- See which hashtags are currently popular in your industry
- Mix of large (>100k posts) and smaller hashtags
- Test different combinations
With the right hashtags you can also increase your visibility, but don't overdo it.
How often should I post on LinkedIn?
The rule of thumb here is: quality over quantity.
As a rule, 2-3 quality posts per week are enough to continuously increase your reach and visibility organically.
My current posting rhythm looks like this, for example:
- Tuesday & Thursday: Main content for maximum engagement
- Monday: Brief insights or learnings from the week
Why this frequency works: The LinkedIn algorithm favours profiles that regularly deliver valuable content. Daily posts are not necessary, and consistent quality generates more leads than quantity.
Plan your LinkedIn posts in advance, but don't post automatically. Authentic, timely interaction is more important than perfect timing.
B2B marketing on LinkedIn: what really works
LinkedIn is the professional network par excellence, but 90% are doing B2B marketing wrong. Instead of constantly placing paid ads, you should focus on organic LinkedIn posts that provide real added value in your newsfeed.
What works:
- Share personal learnings (without selling directly)
- Industry insights without the intention to sell
- Honest fails and what you learnt from them
Use your company page correctly: Don't just show glossy content. Show the people behind it, share processes, make your company tangible.
B2B bedeutet zwar „Business to Business“, aber vergiss nicht: Hinter jedem Business stehen Menschen. For strategic social selling, we recommend our comprehensive guide.
No more 08/15 content that goes under!
Do you want LinkedIn posts that really reach your target group?
Talk to us about your LinkedIn strategy:
LinkedIn video: Your game changer?
Videos are exciting again on LinkedIn, especially this year. Why is that? Because not everyone is doing it yet. On average, videos receive 5 times more interaction than normal posts on LinkedIn.
But beware: Not every video works!
What we have learnt:
- The first 3 seconds make the difference between success and flop
- Subtitles are mandatory (many people watch without sound)
- Authenticity beats perfection
One of the best LinkedIn videos of a customer: Ein 2-Minuten-Clip, spontan mit dem Handy gedreht.
Posting Tip: Upload videos directly to LinkedIn and do not link to other platforms. The algorithm loves native content.
Interaction is king: How to build a community
The most important point: LinkedIn is a social network. Social = talking to each other, not monologuing. Focus on natural ways to build your personal brand through interaction.
The strategy for more interaction:
- Reply to EVERY comment (preferably in the first 30 minutes)
- Comment on others (not just like them!)
- Use surveys to collect real opinions
- That's why surveys work so well: They automatically generate interaction and give you valuable insights into your target group.
- Engage in real conversations with your network through direct messages
Tools that help:
- LinkedIn help section for technical questions
- Native LinkedIn functions, such as the search bar and the Sales Navigator (you don't need any third-party tools to start with)
- The LinkedIn Sales Navigator
Forget LinkedIn ads and paid advertising for now. Concentrate on organic interaction, which brings sustainable results. However, you can also find more LinkedIn marketing strategies here.
We systematically implement community building strategies for our clients. Through our ENGAGE package For example, we not only build reach (approx. 300 new contacts/month), but also create real interaction. The result: relevant people in the network and ultimately real business contacts.
Measuring success: These key figures are important
Forget the vanity metrics. Likes are nice, but do they really bring you customers?
What you should really look out for:
- Comments (show genuine interest)
- Shares (the best indicator of relevance)
- Profile visits after the posting
- Specific enquiries or leads from LinkedIn
LinkedIn offers good analytics, but don't get lost in the numbers. A post with 20 comments can be more valuable than one with 200 likes.
Tool tip: Nutze LinkedIn’s nativen Analytics.
Practical tips for your everyday LinkedIn life
My personal weekly routine (that really works):
- Monday: Gather inspiration in groups
- Tuesday/Thursday: Publish main posts
- Daily: 15 minutes for comments and networking
Content ideas that always work:
- „3 Dinge, die ich diese Woche gelernt habe“
- Screenshots of interesting figures
- Behind the scenes from everyday working life
- Honest opinions on industry trends
For regular contributions: Erstell dir eine Content-Pipeline.

Don't have time to create and optimise LinkedIn content every day?
Let us take care of this while you concentrate on your core business:
My conclusion: authenticity wins
LinkedIn is not rocket science, but it does take patience. It took me two years to get my posts performing well on a regular basis.
The key? Authenticity and consistency.
Our 3 most important learnings:
- Start small – Perfekt ist häufig der Feind von Fortschritt
- Experiment – aber messe immer deine Ergebnisse
- Have fun: If you only think about range, you lose the human factor
Last tip: Don't forget that there is a real person behind every LinkedIn profile. Write for people, not machines. You'll notice that, and the algorithm will honour it.
Be authentic, remain constant and reach people instead of just chasing key figures.
